Joseph R. Lacoste, Jr. D.D.S.
Dr. Lacoste was born and raised in the New
Orleans area. After graduating high school from The New Orleans Academy in 1972,
Dr. Lacoste began his undergraduate studies at Centenary College in Shreveport,
Louisiana, but ultimately received his undergraduate studies at the University
of New Orleans. Dr. Lacoste then went on to receive a Doctor of Dental Surgery
Degree from The Louisiana School of Dentistry in New Orleans in 1980.
Dr Lacoste began practicing as a solo dentist with a single dental chair on
St. Claude Ave. in 1980. From the beginning of his professional career Dr. Lacoste
devoted himself to correlating the concepts of “Dental” and “Gentle”
both inside and outside the realm of his dental practice. In the late 1980’s,
Dr. Lacoste began acknowledging his own office as Lacoste Gentle Dental, from
which spawned a group practice concept devoted to delivering Gentle Dental Care.
In the early 1990’s, Dr. Lacoste brought his Gentle Dental message to
the airwaves, hosting a weekly live radio show on WTIX called “The Gentle
Dental Spotlight.” The highlight of the radio show was the conversation
that ensued when listeners would call in to speak about their dental fears.
Dr. Lacoste has always felt that dental fear has played just as significant
a role towards tooth loss as decay or gum disease.
Over the past 26 years, Dr. Lacoste has been able to bring together a large,
diversified and talented group of dentists and dental specialists who collectively
share and promote the principals of Gentle Dental care. Now known as Louisiana
Dental Center, the foundation of Gentle Dental care established by Dr. Lacoste
in his small New Orleans office has grown to large group practices in Covington,
Slidell, Hammond, Lakeside Shopping Center and Raceland.
Dr. Lacoste is a member of the American Dental Association, the Louisiana Dental
Association, the New Orleans Dental Association and the Academy of General Dentistry.
Dr. Lacoste always finds time to be with family and friends, and enjoys fishing
and playing music.
